Hi all
As promised, please find attached a draft of the road rules insert for
Yarra News for your comment. Note that this is a draft only *(not to be
used for reference at this stage). *Please read and save up your
comments until the meeting on 4 July (this Wednesday) unless you are
unable to attend.
Also, please see update on Yarra bike works as follows:
·*Wellington Street **(Collingwood)*– consultation re proposed
Copenhagen bicycle lanes is now open and closes on the 30 July.

·*Brunswick St **(Fitzroy)*– bike and pedestrian head starts are now
operating at Victoria Pde, and Gertrude, Johnston and Alexandra streets
as part of a trial by the State Government, which was originally
designed by Yarra
·*Langridge St, Collingwood –*bicycle head start lantern has been turned
on by VicRoads at Hoddle Street with Wellington St to be turned on shortly
·*The Best Street, Fitzroy North *– two car parking spaces were removed
and bike parking corral**has been installed in front of Piedimonte’s
supermarket on a trial basis
·*Main Yarra Trail*,*Turner Street to Johnston Street, Abbotsford* –
works are still progressing, with delays due to wet weather. Completion
due in mid-July
·*Main Yarra Trail, Collingwood Childrens Farm, Abbotsford*– retaining
walls being constructed on St Heliers Street driveway and adjacent to
Steiner School in preparation for next financial years' works; asphalt
from Johnston Street to Farm Cafe (closure in August/September)
·*Main Yarra Trail connection to Roseneath St Bridge, Clifton Hill
–*Parks Victoria has nearly completed asphalting/concreting
·*Capital City Trail*– shared path priority crossing at Amess Street has
been completed. The new crossing gives priority to cyclists and
pedestrians on the trail by requiring motorists on Amess Street to give
way; aimed at providing improved connectivity and safety for path user.
·*Canning and Pigdon Streets**, Carlton North*– works included speed
humps on Pigdon Street to reduce the speed of vehicles, the bike lane
ending before the intersection to encourage cyclists to “take the lane”
as they approach the roundabout and a new kerb extension to further slow
vehicles
Hope to see you at the meeting at Fitzroy Town Hall at 6.30pm this
Wednesday.

Hi all
Our next meeting is on Wednesday next week.
Where: Mayor’s Room, Fitzroy Town Hall (entry from courtyard at back of
building, via Moor St)
When: 6.30–8pm, 4 July
Please find agenda attached. As discussed at our last meeting, the
meeting is scheduled to run to 8pm (half an hour longer than previously).
Note that I am hoping to send you a draft of the road rules insert (item
1.1) prior to the meeting. I will forward our update of bike works in
Yarra along with it.
