Proposed dog fence and basketball court upgrade *

Council is seeking feedback on works it is proposing to undertake in 
Edinburgh Gardens.

The works include:

    * the construction of a low-level dog fence in the central area of
      the park currently used as a meet-up point for dogs and dog owners
    * the removal of 36 Oleander and weed species trees along the
      northern boundary path, to be replaced with an avenue of Holly Oaks
    * resurfacing the multi-use court next to the pavilion with new
      concrete and line-marking for games.
    * The reason for the proposed installation of the dog fence is to
      minimise the potential for collision between free running dogs and
      bicycle riders.


Dog walkers and bicycle riders  have previously suggested Council create 
a barrier on some kind at the edge of the path.Council estimates the 
works will cost $87,000. Depending on the feedback received during 
public consultation, the works are proposed to start in September.

      about these works.
    * Submissions can be emailed to

    * All submissions must be received by Friday 26 August 2011.
