Hello Bicycle User Group and Club Members,

Bike Shed funding for schools
Does your child's school need a bike shed? Sometimes schools simply need
some encouragement from a parent. Here are the details of the $14,500
Sustainable Shed funding grants. Applications close 18 July.

Winners of the 2007 Bicycling Achievement Awards
Winners of the 2007 Bicycling Achievement Awards have been announced.
Celebrated Victorians include:
- Charlie Farren, joint winner of the Cycling Promotion Award of the Year-
Honorary Category
- Newhaven Primary School, winner of the Award for an educational
institution for innovation in encouraging cycling to school
- bikeNow, winner of the Award for contribution towards cycling by a
bicycle retailer

Getting Australia Moving
The Cycling Promotion Fund's latest publication, Cycling: Getting Australia
Moving has been getting a lot of media attention. If you haven't already

Free corporate bicycle maintenance workshops with Gran Prix Bicycles in

BUG Radio
Would you like to talk about your BUG on radio? Yarra BUG's six volunteers
have almost completed their radio announcer training at 3CR Community Radio
(855 AM) Have ideas for show segments or interviewing subjects? Then contact
YarraBUG to make a contribution. The program will be a weekly half-hour
bicycle show that promotes bicycling to both cyclists and non-cyclists
alike, as a fun and viable means of transport and campaigns to improve
conditions and awareness

Making Media Happen - Getting Cycling in the News
Positive media coverage of cycling is vital in lifting the profile of
cycling as a fun, healthy and popular activity be it for recreation, sport
or getting around. The Cycling Promotion Fund has engaged a journalist to
develop a media kit for cycling organisations to assist them to gain
positive media coverage of cycling. Please contact us if you'd like a hard
copy.

People to Ride With
Don't forget the "People to Ride With" section of our website relevant to
all BUGs and clubs whether rides are offered or not. We can include the
details of your BUG or club, your rides, meetings, campaigns - anything
relevant. If you've already got a listing, take a look to make sure it's up
to date. If you haven't got a listing, feel free to add it and get some
extra publicity.

Road Safety Community Grant
In other news, the Cycling Promotion Fund and the Amy Gillett Foundation
have applied for a Road Safety Community Grant. The grant application has
been successful and we look forward to working on this important initiative
to improve cycling safety and awareness.
