Council is urging people visiting Edinburgh Gardens in North Fitzroy to 
be extra careful after tacks were discovered in the park.

Council became aware of the issue after a park user found two wire tacks 
in the grass today. The tacks are about the size of a 10-cent piece with 
multiple spikes (see photo below).

Using a high-powered magnet, Council spent five hours sweeping the 
northern half of the gardens today and removed more than 250 tacks.

Further sweeps of the park will continue this afternoon and tomorrow 
morning, concentrating on the southern section of the gardens.

In the meantime, Council is urging visitors to Edinburgh Gardens, 
including cyclists and dog walkers, to be extra cautious when walking 
around the gardens.
