Hi all

Please find attached agenda for next week's meeting.

Welcome to all the new names on the email list -- I've had a quite a few
new expressions of interest since our last meeting. If you haven't
attended a meeting before, please come to the courtyard behind the town
hall (not the steps at the front) and press the buzzer. Our meeting is
on the third floor in the Mayor's Room.

A couple of notes re the agenda:

Item 1.1-- we're keen to hear from you regarding potential locations for
additional on-street bike parking corrals, but due to a crowded agenda,
please store these up (and take photos if possible) for the 4 July meeting.

Item 1.2 -- if you have examples of problem bluestone surface locations
it would be helpful to email an image to me prior to the meeting.

There's a lot to get through in one hour, so it might be worth having a
chat about the length of our meetings.

Finally, as promised at our last meeting, here is the second of our
regular Bicycle Works Updates.

*Bicycle Works Update 24/05/12*

·Trenerry Crescent will be re-linemarked this week to provide a wider
bike lane and a narrower car lane to provide space for cyclists and
passively calm traffic. This is in addition to the additional speed
humps installed a month ago.

·Cycle Priority crossing installed at Amess St, Carlton North as part of
Open Space's Linear Trail Upgrade

·Upgrade of speed cushions to full width flat top speed humps in
Langridge St, Abbotsford and Collingwood, to prevent motorists intruding
into bike lane.

·Installation of asphalt footpath on cnr of St Georges Rd/Miller St to
occur in June 2012 -- primary school students are currently riding on dirt

·40km/h area wide speed limit for LATMS 11 (area bounded by Nicholson
St, Alexandra Pde, Brunswick St and Victoria Pde) -- application with
VicRoads for its consent.

·Linemarking is nearly finished on Stage 1 of Elizabeth St. The
Hoddle/Elizabeth St intersection will be upgraded in a few weeks, while
the Church/Elizabeth St intersection will be addressed next year subject
to funding an priorities

·The Wellington St Consultation is expected to begin on the 18 June and
run for a month. The BAC were supportive of the project at the special
meeting on 9 May but raised some concerns about conflict at intersections.

·Works are progressing at Canning and Pigdon St intersection to
encourage cyclists to take the lane.
http://www.yarracity.vic.gov.au/hot-topics/more-works-planned-for-canning-pigdon-street-intersection-in-carlton-north-this-weekend/

·Works have been completed to improve the bicycle priority at Canning
and Lea St Road Closure

·An on-street bicycle parking corral was installed in Lambert St (near
Victoria St cnr) last week on a trial basis.

Cheers and happy cycling

Heidi
