Hi all,

Last Tuesday 19 November 2013, the long planned for Wellington St lanes 
hit opposition at Yarra Council, please read below (scroll down) for 
Wellington Street Copenhagen Bicycle Lane Council Resolution.

We need people to attend the next Yarra Council meeting on 17 December 
2013 to show the huge support this proposed lane has with the local 
community, so be prepared to make your views known during Public 
Question Time, bring all your friends and banners or signage ;)

Dear Wellington Street Stakeholders,

Council considered the report on the Wellington Street Advisory Group 
recommendations on Tuesday 19 November 2013.  A copy of the report is 
attached, and outlines the mitigation actions proposed by the Wellington 
Street Advisory Group and Council officers' comments on the proposed 
actions.  Most of the actions proposed by the Wellington Street Advisory 
Group were supported by council officers with two exceptions, which did 
not conform with current Council policies.

The officer recommendations proposed in the report were considered by 
Council, but were not passed.

An alternative resolution was proposed and carried, which has been 
attached: /"That a further report on this matter be brought back to the 
17 December Council meeting outlining the consequences for the Bicycle 
Strategy of not proceeding with the Wellington Street Copenhagen lanes 
at this time."/

Further information on the December Council report will be provided 
closer to the date.   It is expected that the report to be presented at 
the Council meeting on the 17 December 2013 at 7pm at the Richmond Town 
Hall. The report will be available on the Council website at 
http://www.yarracity.vic.gov.au/Your-Council/Meetings/2013-council-meetings/ 
on the 13 December 2013.  Members of the community are welcome to attend 
the Council Meeting and can make verbal submissions.
