Hi all,
Thank you so much to everyone who contacted Yarra Council in support of
a new southbound protected bicycle lane on Brunswick Street at Victoria
Parade alongside the tram improvement works.
This item was passed unanimously at the Yarra Council meeting on 20
April 2021, Brunswick Street works have now commenced, see these notices

The special Yarra Council budget meeting for Thursday 24 June 2021
includes a *Notice of Motion in Support for Additional Cycling
Infrastructure (Item 9.1)*. This calls for additional support from
Victoria State Government, including enhancing the Heidelberg Road popup
bike lanes trial and building at least 15km of additional protected
bikelanes and enhanced bicycle infrastructure in Yarra within two years
as part of the State Government’s commitment to 100km of new and
improved bike routes across inner Melbourne suburbs.
'Pop-up Bike Lanes: We’re installing 100 hundred kilometres of new and
improved bike routes across key inner-Melbourne suburbs to make it
easier and safer for people to ride to and from the CBD'

The Yarra Council meeting is online via Microsoft Teams from 7pm, so
it’s easy to participate from home and details of how to join will be
emailed once you have registered.
Speaking time is usually limited to five minutes although a one - two
minute submission is ok.
If you don’t get an email or anything confirming your registration,
please call or email the Yarra Council Governance Team know your intent

(crs at yarracity.vic.gov.au) in favour of Item 9.1 prior to tomorrows
Yarra Council Meeting, please send a concise outline of why you support
it to, especially if you already ride the Heidelberg Road popup bike
lanes trial and live nearby.
