Hi all,

The next Yarra Council Bicycle Advisory Committee meeting is on Wednesday
night - and Mark is asking the question - what would you like the BAC to
do?

See below for tomorrow nights agenda and related correspondence, please
either respond to Mark directly or attend Wednesday nights meeting.

Dear BAC members -

Item 1 - BAC's purpose and terms of reference (25min 6.30pm - 6.55pm)

Thank you for your suggestions and thoughts at our last meeting on 21
October about BAC's purpose and establishing terms of reference.

At our meeting on the 9 December, I would like to pick up where we left
off and am asking you to respond to the question -

What do you want the BAC to do?

Could you please email me your thoughts before our 9 Dec meeting - I will
collate all responses I receive and present them for discussion. Our
objectives and terms of reference will be developed together as a group.

Item 2 - Bike Strategy (10min 6.55pm - 7.05pm)

On Tuesday 1 December the Planning, Environment and Infrastructure
Committee will consider the revised draft Bike Strategy and related
submissions/responses. If you wish to verbally support your submission you
are welcome to do so at the Committee meeting. The meeting will start at
8.00pm and is being held at the Fitzroy Town Hall. Please find attached a
draft summary of the submissions and a brief response to those
submissions.

I am planning to attend the meeting and will report back to the BAC.

I will also bring a few hardcopies along on the 9 Dec of the revised draft
Strategy showing all the track changes.

Item 3 - Canning/Princes Streets - upgrade proposal - BAC input requested
(25min 7.05pm - 7.30pm)

Vicroads are currently developing an upgrade proposal for the intersection
of Canning Street and Princes Street. They have developed 4 options.
Bicycle Victoria and the City of Yarra have both provided Vicroads with
comments.

I would like the BAC to consider and comment on the intersection. Please
find attached all of the information - I will bring hard copies along on 9
Dec and table the options for us to discuss.

Recent data shows that 941 cyclists used Canning Street in the morning
peak. WOW!

Up and coming agenda items

a.       At our previous meeting, it was suggested that the submissions
received in response to the Draft Bike Strategy be tabled for discussion -
I think this could be worthwhile. However there were 24 submissions, some
of them a number of pages long, so this would take a while. Can I suggest
that whoever wants to discuss their submission in detail at BAC, please
advise me before hand and I will place it on the agenda and prepare a
response for discussion. We can include this as a recurring agenda item if
need be.

b.      A few Strategy submissions suggested that a Richmond east-west
route should be developed. I would like BAC input on this and possible
development of a route.

Some bike news

- 7 existing car parking bays outside the Fitzroy Pool on Alexandra Parade
will be converted into bike parking bays with 35 hoops being installed.
This is scheduled to happen before the end of the year.
- 1 existing car parking bay outside the Fitzroy Library on Moor St will
be converted into bike parking bays with 6 hoops being installed. This is
also scheduled to happen before the end of the year.

Ps. Sorry I have not sent the notes out from our previous meeting - I will
do this shortly.
