Dear Colleagues, 
 
Please refer to the notice below received from traders re the Premiers
Clearway extensions.
This is actually a protest walk along Bridge Road and will involve
approx 100 big signs, banners and loud speaker.  It is being advertised
in the Age and Herald Sun.  They are also expecting media coverage. 
 
They hope to have as many people attend as the successful Taxi driver's
protest which achieved results.

Notice of Public Protest
 
AGAINST THE PROPOSED EXTENSION TO CLEARWAY TIMES
 
Thursday 8th May 2008, 
8:30 AM

194 Bridge Rd Richmond

(Cnr Waltham Street)
 
To cope with the ever increasing overload of Melbourne's transportation
system, the Brumby Government has decided to extend the times of
clearway operation within a 10 km radius of Melbourne CBD from 6:30am to
10am and 3:00pm to 7:00pm
 
This Government decision will
 
*	Have a devastating impact on business and amenity throughout
inner city community strip centres. 
 
*	Remove swathes of car parking, alienate pedestrian flow, but
will not remove the bottlenecks of multiple traffic controls and railway
crossings. 
 
*	Fail to protect these vibrant social and economic community
centres that attract thousands of visitors. 
 
The inner city communities demand a more sympathetic government that can
consult and provide and facilitate quality, energy sustainable outcomes.
