Yarra.<br>

<b>1.</b><b> </b><b>Heads up: Walmer St Bridge Works, Kew /
Abbotsford from Monday 29 April. </b><br>
<br>
Works to replace the timber decking on the Walmer Street access ramp
is to commence from Monday 29th April and conclude no later than
Friday 3rd May 2013. <br>
<br>
An anti-slip decking material known as “Weldlok” is to be used in
place of the existing timbers. <br>
<br>
Whilst works are in progress the ramp will remain closed. During
closure times trail users will be diverted to the adjacent concrete
stairs as an alternative way of accessing the trail. <br>
<br>
To minimise disruption to trail users all works are to commence no
earlier than 9am through to no later than 3:30pm each day. The ramp
will re-open each day from 3:30pm until 9am the following morning to
allow traffic during evening and morning peak periods.<br>
<br>
Signs will be installed to alert trail users of the works and divert
traffic to use the adjacent stairs whilst construction is underway
throughout the non-peak periods.<br>

<b>2. </b><b>News from City of Yarra: Works to improve the section
of shared path in Linear Park between Lygon Street and Bowen
Crescent are expected to begin in mid April 2013. </b><br>
<br>
Works to improve the section of shared path in Linear Park between
Lygon Street and Bowen Crescent are expected to begin in mid April.

The works are expected to take six to eight weeks to complete. <br>
<br>
Please note, during this time pedestrians and cyclists will not have
access to this section of the path. <br>
<br>
Signage will direct cyclists and pedestrians to alternate routes,
including north and south crossing points. <br>
<br>
The path upgrade will involve replacing the asphalt path with a
concrete path, and widening it to three metres. <br>
<br>
The path will follow the existing alignment, with minor adjustments.
Some trees will be removed to provide adequate width and provide
better visibility for path users. <br>
<br>
Council has already planted 40 new native trees in this part of
Linear Park to offset the tree removals. <br>
<br>
Three parking spaces will be removed from Park Street (east end of
the north section), to improve access to Linear Park. <br>
<br>
This is required to make this intersection safe for park users.
These works are part of the implementation of the Linear Park
Masterplan (2006), and consistent with recent improvements in other
sections of the park. <br>
