<b>1. News from Yarra Council: long term works @ Walmer Street,
Abbotsford. Please forward on: </b><br>
Council is in the process of approving the use of Walmer St for
trucks to access the SALTA site. Trucks will be using the street
for approximately 8 months as and from next week. (mid April 2013)
<br>
A shared pedestrian and cyclist zone shall be created which shall
be protected by barriers.<br>

<b>2. Heads up - Shared path closure: The path through Smith
Reserve (near Fitzroy Pool) will be closed in the week
commencing 22 April 2013</b><br>
Can you please pass along through your networks. Cyclist and
pedestrian access through the park will be restricted while
Council carries out work to widen the shared path. <br>
Please see the map attached for suggested detours.<br>

These detours are expected to be in place for one week from Monday
22 April. Southbound cyclists and pedestrians are advised to head
west along Alexandra Parade, turn left into Young Street and then
left again into Westgarth Street. <br>
Northbound cyclists and pedestrians on Napier Street are advised
to head west along Cecil Street from the park, turn right into
Young Street and then right again at Alexandra Parade. <br>

Plan that will soon be available for comment. It is expected to be
on public exhibition online and at all customer service centres
and libraries from 17 April for 28 days. <br>
You are invited to read the draft Council Plan and contribute
ideas and comments on how it can be improved to best reflect
aspirations for Yarra. <br>

To help us prepare the best Bicycle Strategy for Bayside we need

Southbank, details + link below: </b><br>
Our Southbank Adult Crisis Accommodation Service is looking for an
experienced enthusiastic bike mechanic to run a weekly workshop on
bicycle maintenance with people experiencing homelessness.<br>
<br>
If you can comfortably communicate with a small group, teach
people some useful new skills and help raise community awareness
of homelessness, then this is the volunteer job for you! <br>
You will receive onsite support and you will be part of an
innovative team. We need a commitment of at least 6 months at 2
hours per week and can be flexible about days. <br>
