*Hi All *
**
*I have four projects to update you on*
**
*1.**Improvements signalled for North Carlton intersection*
**
Illuminated signage will be installed at the intersection of Canning
Street and Richardson Street in North Carlton to improve safety for
cyclists.
Council received almost $70,000 from the Federal Government's Black Spot
program to improve the intersection, where a high number of serious
collisions have been reported between cyclists and motorists.
Council applied for the funding last year after identifying the
intersection as a key priority for improvement.
Two solar illuminated LED signs will be installed on Richardson Street
to warn motorists approaching Canning Street of the presence of
cyclists. The signs will be activated from Monday to Friday during AM
peak (7am-9:30am) and PM peak (5pm-7pm) periods.
The works are expected to be complete by September 2013 and will
complement a further $1.1 million of proposed works to improve local
cycling infrastructure over the next financial year.

Traffic, on 9205 5739 or Ross Evans at yarracity.vic.gov.au

*2.**Improvements to Linear Park between Lygon St and Bowen Crescent*
The shared path in Linear Park between Lygon St and Bowen Crescent,
Princes Hill, is currently a work zone and being replaced. Diversions
are in place for pedestrians and cyclists. Works commenced today, and
will be in place for around the next 4-5 weeks weather depending. More
information is on the attached flyer.

Architect, on 9205 5770 or Ross Evans at yarracity.vic.gov.au

*3.**Highett Street Precinct Roundabout *
The contractor is currently installing Sharrows on the roundabouts in
Richmond bounded by Victoria, Lennox, Bridge and Burnley. This will be
followed by a promo with BV and by Yarra Council on how to use them and
an option to provide comments
*4.**Elizabeth Street Green Paint *
Shortly our linemarker will be increasing the amount of green paint at
conflict points on Elizabeth Street in Richmond. This is now being done
due to budget constraints when the original works were completed.
Happy Cycling.

/Yarra has once again recorded the highest Cycle to Work rate in
Australia! 8.5% of residents cycled to work on the August 2011 Census
day. Congratulations Yarra./
