Here's a listing of cycling/bicycle themed events in this years State of 
Design Festival. Also, you can listen to a recent interview we did with

This week we interview Faith Hunter from Treadlie magazine & Scott Symes 
from Symes Cycles about the upcoming Made to Measure -- Handmade Bike 
Show as part of State of Design Festival. Plus Tour de France chatter,

*Made to Measure - TREADLIE Handmade Bike Show July 21 - July 24 - Royal 
Exhibition Buildings*
Presented by TREADLIE Magazine/State of Design
Craftsmanship and design are combined in an exhibition of especially 
commissioned custom-built bicycles from around the country. The final 
selection of bikes will be based on their aesthetics, artistry and 
creativity. Accompanying each exhibit will be stories about the bikes 
and their builders. The bicycle presents the ultimate example of design 
in motion.

Vintage bicycles Melbourne*
We are having a pop up shop in Melbourne Central level 1 as part of the 
State of Design Festival from 20th-31st July. Some great old black and 
white shots which highlight the intrinsic and undeniable link between 
vintage bicycles and manner in which they are able to make their riders 
more attractive!!! Everyone is welcome to drop by Melbourne Central 
level 1 to check out some bikes and say hello, starting from Wednesday 
20th and finishing on the 31st July (State of Design Festival).

*Mapping the 'Burbs Presented by the Australian Institute of Architects, 
Victorian Chapter*
Architecturally-led itineraries through a metropolis are well documented 
but a guided itinerary through suburban Melbourne is less common. 
Mapping the 'Burbs is an opportunity to explore architectural sites of 
interest by bicycle. This is a mapping project in inner, outer and 
regional suburbia. Nine architectural firms either located or with a 
close affinity to suburban Melbourne and regional Victoria have designed 
a cycling tour of significant architectural sites within their 
neighbourhood.

Over 90 minutes, across numerous sites, the Projector Bike will take a 
tour, illuminating and revealing the design that surrounds us. Joins us 
for the tour or meet us enroute as we attempt to re-imagine some of

*Fashion Design Mobility Presented by Mick Peel*
Expressing ideas and issues of personal mobility in an urban setting 
through fashion design.Mick Peel, Academic and PhD candidate, together 
with a group of fashion design students from RMIT University, explore 
and express notions of movement and mobility in an urban setting. The 
exhibition presents varied responses from practical utility to creative 
poetics in the mediums of drawing, film and clothing.
