Appeal for witnesses to collision in Fitzroy

Police are appealing for witnesses to a hit run collision that occurred in
Fitzroy this morning.

At approximately 8.10am, a male cyclist was riding his push bike west
along Gertrude Street when he was struck by a vehicle travelling east.

It is believed the female driver of the vehicle was attempting to turn
right into George Street from Gertrude Street when she has struck the
cyclist.

The female driver remained at the scene for a short time before leaving in
her vehicle, which is described as a small, faded red coloured hatchback
with a black coloured plastic bumper bar.

The female driver is described as tall, approximately 30-years-old with
strawberry blonde coloured hair.

The male cyclist received serious injuries as a result of the collision
and remains in the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has
