The latest June/July edition of *BFA e-news* is now available – click

Contents of the newsletter are:

o      *Formation and funding of AustCycle:**            New national 
cycling training organisation formed.*

o      *The Australian Bicycle Council:**            *

  The Australian Bicycle Council met in April, welcoming its new Chair 
and launching the web based Cycling Resource Centre – see 
*http://www.www.cyclingresourcecentre.org.au*

o        *Bicycling Achievement Awards:**            *The Cycling 
Promotion Award of the Year goes to Bruce Ashley, Director of the 
Environment Works with joint winners of the Honorary Award to former BFA 
President Charlie        Farren, and Lenore Evans, of the Cairns Bicycle 
User Group.

o        *Round-Table discussion:**            *Representatives from key 
cycling, health promotion and planning organisations meet to discuss 
further action to promote cycling issues to the federal government.

o        *Healthy Active Australia Project – Bikeability 
Toolkit:**            *Bikeability Toolkit to be reviewed with further 
train-the-trainer workshops.

o        *Pedal Power Healthy Active Australia Project –– Revitalisation 
of Ride to Work:**            *A joint BFA & ACT Pedal Power project 
funded by Federal Department of Health and Ageing.

o        *Fact Sheets:**            *Fact Sheets on the Social Benefits 
of Cycling, the Financial Benefits and Cycling Safety nearly complete.

o        *bikes4work:**            *A bikes-at-work consultancy service 
under development by the BFA & partners.

o        *Cycling: Getting Australia Moving report:**            *The 
Cycling: Getting Australia Moving report has for the first time, placed 
a dollar value on cycling participation, finding that cycling saves an 
estimated $227.2m per         year in health costs alone.
 
o        *Build Traffic Out of Kids’ Lives. Urge Experts:**            
**            *The 'Places to Go' conference in the UK examines the 
plight of the latest 'species' to face habitat destruction: children.
 
o        *USA To Get Cycling Strategy:**            *In the USA in 
mid-May, the House passed a non-binding resolution calling for a 
national cycling strategy.

o        *New Supporters:**            *Two leading New Zealand cycle 
tourism companies join the BFA as Gold Supporters.

o        *Supporters*
