Hi everyone,

As Chris as previously mentioned, following the Yarra BUG forum in September,
I moved a motion at council asking for a report about ways council could better support bike riding.
(While it sounds dull and bureaucratic, a report is often the first step in getting action at council.)

The report is on the agenda for this Tuesday's Planning, Environment and Infrastructure Committee, 8pm,
Fitzroy Town Hall (in the Reading Room).

Committee meetings are where community members have the opportunity to make verbal submissions
(this is normally not possible at full council meetings), and I'd really encourage people to read
the report (on council's website, under committee meeting agendas) and come and have your say.

The report covers a range of things the BUG forum asked us to look at, including increasing
bike parking, a car free day, supporting activities for new/hesitant riders and more.

If you think council should have car free days, or a range of other things covered in
the report, come and make your opinion known.

Clear community support makes a huge difference in getting more happening for bike riders - having
your say at this committee meeting will help council do more on bike riding, so it would be great
to see people there.

If you have any questions, feel free to give me a ring on 0437 567 341,

Kathleen

2. YarraBUG Volunteers required for Solutions to Climate Change Festival
8th December, Darling Gardens, Clifton Hill from 1 to 5pm
We need volunteers to help out at the Solutions to Climate Change
Festival! If you love riding your bike and want to help more people get
riding in Yarra, then all you need to do is attend and talk to people
about your local experience and tips.

As we're now pretty experienced at setting up displays for public events,
all you have to do is volunteer time & chat. Bonus chairs, table and
materials supplied! Who could ask for more! No seriously, this festival is
a great opportunity to meet Yarra locals and chat incessantly about
cycling. Which for many of us is very easy to do. ;)
Interested? Call Chris: enquiries at yarrabug.org or call 0407 825 467
