I've got memories of a comedy sketch about a person being transported in a
suitcase (Two Ronnies?) two avoid paying for a second fare.  The same
could be done for a pet.  Appropriate air holes and drinks provided
through a tube.

Next step will be banning pets from being transported in cages within
aeroplanes, so in future cats will be required to learn how to fly.
