Below is a repeat of information sent in original email ...........
please forward this on to anyone who may be interested

Cheers for now..... Jill

REPEAT INFO FROM EMAIL SENT 18.3.08lve been speaking with Ursulla
McGuiness who is Gen Manager Public Relations in Vline and have
finally got an agreement to get a community meeting organised in a
couple of weeks time in Castlemaine.

The reason for this meeting is threefold

during the time of the ban we invited Vline reps to a community
discussion on the issues that commuters were experiencing, this didnt
come about due to Vline not getting back to us, and even though the
ban has been lifted, the same issues are still affecting those who
take bikes on board trains, esp problematic is the Northern line as it
continues to have the greatest growth splurge of numbers using the
train services. So this is your opportunity to let Vline know how you
are affected when taking your bike on the train
this meeting which will be an opportunity for positive exchanges and
discussions; its to hear the story from both sides; and to form an
ongoing community/Vline relationship-getting to know you exchange,
this will be an opportunity for Vline to announce amongst other
things, that Castlemaine and Bendigo will be 2 of the recommended 5
regional stations to have 'bike cages' installed
Vline has made it clear that the design of the carriages will not be
changed in the near or med future due to the contracts that are
already in place, so this wont form a big part of the discussion. But
lm sure the question can be asked will the design of carriages be
changed/reconsidered at a much later date, or what are the options...
etc etc.

If you are unable to attend, your commuter issues or suggestions can
be forwarded to me or someone else who will be attending.

Also, can this message please be forwarded onto others who have been,
are affected or are in support of those taking bikes on trains,
sustainable and intermodal transport systems.
