[publictransport] notes from Vline meeting 3.4.08

Hi everyone, 

Attached are notes, in point form, from the community meeting held in Castlemaine with representatives from Vline. It was a very positive meeting and another is to be organised in a few weeks time. 

Two vital points l came away with from this meeting is 
  a.. our requests and advocating for better facilities for cyclists and others, need to be directed to the Government/Hon Lynne Kosky and the Department of Infrastructure, cc Vline and local Govt and Bike Victoria
  b.. and importantly, we need to have discussions with the latter (BV) as this organisation is considered by the Govt depts etc to be the " peak cycling body" which represents all cyclists, this is not an accurate picture. BV is a membership based large cycling organisation and is not a peak body. It happens to have a very large membership base which is exclusive to those who become a member. This is not negating the positives BV has achieved and continues to achieve, but we need clarity and broad discussion and decisions on how BV or whomever will be the PB rep if at all. So l am proposing that discussions with BV take place in relation to this and how in future cyclists can be represented, by whom, especially in the light of the recent decisions by BV to support the ban. 
l will advise of the next meeting with Vline once we have a date set. If anyone has any questions or would like more info, clarity on the notes, please feel free to email me.
